Early birds arrived on Wednesday.

The golfers held a tournament on Thursday. Walt Schreiber was this years champion. A group of 69 Non golfers took a bus to the Museum of Science & Industry

Friday morning started with a bus ride to The Great Lakes Naval Training Station where we observed the Graduation Ceremony of the Boots. This was followed by a tour of the base and lunch in one of the mess halls. After lunch a Memorial service was held in the base chapel. Following the service we were back on the buses to the hotel.

Saturday was the annual meeting. About 10:30 A. M. 94 attendees boarded buses to the Navy Pier where there boarded the cruise ship "Mystic BLue." The ship departed at 1:00 P. M. During the 2 Hour cruise we enjoyed a great buffet lunch as well as the Chicago skyline from Lake Michigan. Then back to the hotel for the banquet.The photographer never showed. Bill Ekber took phgotographs & is going to try to find a publisher to prepare a yearbook from his and other's photos.

There were approximately 130 attendees of which 60+ were shipmates(9 Plank Owners) and the remaining were family & guests. Among the first timers was Gene Chan , his wife two daughters & two grandsons came from California. Gene and Ed Cox had been good friends aboard. Gene's oldest daughter Julie Mirblouk found the website & contacted C. Weir who then got Gene reunited with Ed Cox. Julie had promised Charlie a hug when she saw him in Chicago. She gave him the hug even though he had forgotten.

All of the attendees that I spoke with had a great time. Thank you Ken and your staff for a job well done.
